Thursday - back to El Cercado

Good evening. It is 10:15 pm here as I write. Today was a long day in El Cercado, but a great one. We spent the majority of the day painting the medical clinic in El Cercado. We painted the outside, as well as re-painted all of the letters on the side of the building. We also painted one of the doctors rooms inside. All in all, it was a very hot and tiring day and many of us are now graced with tans (or sunburns) as well as many mosquitoe bites. But, we finished and it was good to complete our project for our friends in El Cercado.

We enjoyed dinner with Pastor Morales and his family and were then invited to his church service. The service was not a typical service, rather was similar to our small groups at New Community. And, as normal, the power was out so the time together was all done by the light of candles. Very awesome. We were treated to a special time of hot chocolate and bread. The hot chocolate was like nothing we have in the States and was fantastic. Wow.

We are back at the Mission and preparing to head back to Santo Domingo tomorrow for a night of rest in the hotel and then we leave Saturday to come back to Elizabeth City. For each of us, our time here has taught us something new. The Lord designed our time here and it has been humbling to know we are representing Him in this community.

We leave tomorrow and our internet access will be limited, so this may be the last post until you see us live and in person!! We are excited to share with you all of the many many stories we have to share and can't wait to bring YOU back to the Dominican!!!
