Welcome to the Mission Team Blog!

Welcome to our blog!  We have created this  blog so that we can stay in touch with all of you during our time in the Dominican.  We will update as often as we can in the Dominican, but as you can imagine wi-fi isn't available on every other block like it is here in the United States.  But, when we can update, we will!

A few details:

When are we leaving?

We are meeting at the church at 4 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 to trek to the Norfolk Airport together.  We leave from Norfolk around 7, making a pit stop in Atlanta, and then arriving to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic around  2 in the afternoon.  We are on the same time zone as our friends in the US - yeah!

Where are we going -specifically?

We arrive in Santo Domingo and will spend the remainder of Saturday there, as well as attend church on Sunday morning in Santa Domingo.  We will head to San Juan de la Manguana (about a 4 hour drive) on Sunday and spend our time serving the people of that community, as well as assisting Pastor Morales.  We head back toward Santo Domingo on Friday.

When will we be back to the US?

We leave Santo Domingo on Saturday, November 8 around 3 and arrive back in Norfolk around 11 pm, and then drive back to Elizabeth City.

What can you do - our friends back in the United States?

Pray.  Pray.  Pray.  It may seem like a simple thing, but we have all been witness to amazing things that have happened through the prayers of Believers.  When the Lord leads you to think of us, pray for us.  You are a vital part of the success of this trip for New Community, regardless of whether your feet ever touch the soil of the Dominican Republic.

Feel free to leave comments on our blog as to what is going on back in the US.  We thank you for allowing us to represent New Community Church in the Dominican Republic.
